An increased-capacity landing gear system with 32 wheels was designed, some of which are steerable; these enable the airlifter to turn within a 60-metre-wide (200 ft) runway. Akin to its An-124 predecessor, the An-225 incorporated a nose gear designed to "kneel" so cargo can be more easily loaded and unloaded.

The main landing gear of the An-225 has seven pairs of wheels on each side. Twenty of its thirty-two wheels are steerable; the two pairs of nose gear and the rear four pairs of main gear on each side. The only An-225 to fly to date debuted at Kiev in November 1988. It is the largest airplane ever flown more than once.

The An-22 was designed for rough-field operation, with two-wheel nosegear and three levered-suspension dual main landing gear assemblies in each fairing, for a total of six main gear assemblies and twelve main gear wheels.

2016年5月17日 · Due to the sheer size, and unique mission of the An-225, it features a number of wheels in order to maximise the weight distribution on the runway surface, allowing it to carry a greater weight, and operate from smaller airports with weaker runways.

Although the basic configuration is the same as the An-124, the An-225 is longer, has no rear ramp/door assembly, and incorporates a 32-wheel landing gear system (two nose and fourteen main wheel bogies, seven per side, each with two wheels).
