It's safe enough in so far as downloading apk files or even the bundles (If you need a specific apk) but the problem comes not from malware but rather the installation itself. Some apk files may not work correctly or cause undesired effects on your device, particularly system files. (Not all files on apkmirror are generic)

The reason I asked this is because APK-mirror took a bad step: making their own, very inefficient and closed file format to handle app-bundle (AKA split-apk). And yet, APKpure doesn't do it with their file format.

I know there's lots of APK sites, but which ones are trustworthy? I'm cautious of random download sites, especially for software, and especially for something so personal and integral to my life as my phone.
