Apollo Creed is a fictional character from the Rocky franchise, portrayed by Carl Weathers. He appears in the first four Rocky films, serving as the main antagonist in Rocky and Rocky II, and later becoming one of the protagonists in Rocky III and Rocky IV.

Apollo Creed (August 17, 1942 - August 31, 1985) is introduced as the main antagonist in Rocky and Rocky II, the deuteragonist of Rocky III, a major character in Rocky IV, a mentioned character in Rocky V and Rocky Balboa (Rocky VI) and the titular posthumous overreaching protagonist of Creed, Creed II and Creed III.

Carl Weathers (January 14, 1948 – February 2, 2024) was an American actor, director and a former football player. His prominent roles included boxer Apollo Creed in the first four Rocky films (1976–1985), Colonel Al Dillon in Predator (1987), Chubbs Peterson in Happy Gilmore (1996), and Combat Carl in the Toy Story franchise.

Apollo Creed is the deuteragonist of the Rocky film series and the titular overarching protagonist of the Creed film series. Apollo was one of Rocky Balboa's best friends (the other being Paulie Pennino) and former rival.

Rocky must come out of retirement to battle a gargantuan Soviet fighter named Drago, who brutally punished Rocky's friend and former rival, Apollo Creed. Seeking revenge in the name of his fallen comrade and his country, Rocky agrees to fight Drago in Moscow on Christmas, and the bout changes both fighters -- and the world.

Rocky, after dealing with Mickey's heart attack before the fight, is knocked out by Lang in the second round. Mickey dies after the fight, and former rival Apollo Creed steps in, training Rocky to fight in Creed's old Los Angeles gym. In the rematch, Rocky outboxes Lang, eventually knocking him out in the third round.
