Madí (or MADI; also known as Grupo Madí or Arte Madí) is an international abstract (or concrete) art movement initiated in Buenos Aires in 1946 by the Hungarian-Argentinian artist and poet Gyula Kosice, and the Uruguayans Carmelo Arden Quin and Rhod Rothfuss.

El movimiento Madí es una corriente derivada del arte abstracto e iniciado en 1947, en el Río de la Plata, por los artistas uruguayos Carmelo Arden Quin (artista plástico y escritor), Rhod Rothfuss (artista plástico) [1] [2] [3] y por el artista oriundo de la desaparecida Checoslovaquia y nacionalizado argentino Gyula Kosice.

Founded by the artists Gyula Kosice, Rhod Rothfuss and Carmelo Arden Quin, Arte Madí had a commitment to expressing the reality of modern life through non-figurative concrete art. In 1946 they published a manifesto in which they declared the importance of ‘the true constructive spirit which has spread though all countries and cultures’.

El grupo Madí, bajo la acción de Arden Quin, Kosice y Rothfuss, repensó la recuperación constructivista desde búsquedas lúdicas e incorporó la operación sobre el “sinsentido” y aspectos destructivos de Dadá.
