Asea (Greek: Ασέα; before 1927: Κανδρέβα Kandreva[2]) is a village and a community in Arcadia, Greece, in the Peloponnese peninsula. Asea is situated on a hillside at about 800 m elevation. It is 2 km northeast of Athinaio, 11 km east of Megalopoli and 14 km southwest of Tripoli. Asea was the seat of the municipality of Valtetsi.

Asea (Ancient Greek: ἡ Ἀσέα) was a town of ancient Arcadia in the district Maenalia, situated near the frontier of Laconia, on the road from Megalopolis to Pallantium and Tegea. According to Greek mythology, Asea is said to be named for Aseatas, son of the Spartan king, Lycaon.

Situated in Arcadia, almost in the middle of Peloponese, 20 km (13 miles) from both cities of Tripoli and Megalopoli and 190 km (120 miles) from Athens, Asea has become one of the most well positioned and attractive places in Greece.

Ancient Asea was an important Arcadian city. Its history begins, according to the findings of the excavations, from the prehistoric period. According to tradition, it was founded by Aseatis, son of Lycaon. He participated in the battle of Plataea against the Persians (479 BC) and the battle of Mantineia (362 BC).

Η Ασέα βρίσκεται στο Νομό Αρκαδίας, και απέχει 20 χλμ. από την Τρίπολη και τη Μεγαλόπολη. Είναι ένα χωριό με πολύ λίγους μόνιμους κατοίκους που παίρνει όμως ζωή στις γιορτές και τα Σαββατοκύριακα όπου πολλοί επισκέπτες φτάνουν από την Αθήνα. Το καλοκαίρι συγκεντρώνει πολλούς απόδημους Ασεάτες που γυρίζουν πίσω να δουν το χωριό που γεννήθηκαν.
