The ASH 26 is an 18 metre Class glider, built of modern fibre reinforced composites. It first flew in 1993. It is manufactured by Alexander Schleicher GmbH & Co. The 'H' indicates this is a design of Martin Heide. The ASH 26 has plain flaps, a retractable undercarriage and a water ballast system.

The ASH 26 E is a self-launching powered sailplane with 18m span. The sailplane version ASH 26 has got preparations to enable a retrofitting of the engine unit at a later stage without large expenditure.

The 26E is the best handling glider I have ever flown (you can even thermal hands off). Assembly is quick with the one-piece wing and eccentric tool. Service has been done by Rex Mayes at Williams Soaring (the US Schleicher dealer), who did an extra-thorough annual inspection, including removing and inspecting the engine.

Two versions are available: A mounting plate with two locking bolts can be installed on the left cockpit wall below the air brake pushrod. The rear bolt can be loosened by using an Allen key. The position of the bolt determines the retaining force of the wheel brake (parking brake) which is inter-connected with the air brakes.
