Ultrasound of Atrial Septal Defects
Best visualized on subcostal four-chamber view of the heart. Ostium secundum ASD's appear as a larger than expected area of dropout in the central portion of the septum secundum (in the vicinity of the foramen ovale) or as a deficient foraminal flap (septum primum) that fails to cover the entire foramen ovale.
Ultrasound of Fetal Cardiac Anomalies - AJR
2012年11月20日 · M-mode ultrasound is a 2D image of motion over time that is used for evaluation of fetal heart motion, heart rate, wall thickness, chamber size, and motion of the valves or myocardium. Fetal heart rate and rhythm can be evaluated using M-mode ultrasound through the atrial and ventricular wall, above and below the AV valve, respectively.

This second trimester fetus shows a number of multiple congenital fetal cardiac anomalies. The first is the presence of AVSD or atrioventricular septal defect. This is characterised by large apical atrial septal defect and a basal ventricular septal defect with an abnormal Common atrioventricular valve.

Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) Imaging - Medscape
Atrial septal defect may be visualized directly using 2-dimensional (2D) echo imaging, especially from a subcostal view. Transesophageal color-coded Doppler echocardiography provides excellent...
Atrial, Ventricular, and Atrioventricular Septal Defects
2016年8月27日 · Figure 18.3: Schematic drawing and corresponding ultrasound image of a basal four-chamber view in a fetus with a primum atrial septal defect (ASD I) (arrow). Note the gap in the atrial part of the heart crux and the linear insertion of the atrioventricular valves.
Chapter: imaging of atrial and ventricular septal defects - Vessel …
For example, atrial septal defects result in the right ventricular volume overload, whereas the ventricular septal defect (VSD) results in the left heart volume overload. Knowledge of septal anatomy is crucial to understanding these lesions, their hemodynamic significance, and thus better plan management, including interventions.
Atrial Septal Defects - fetal ultrasound
- Defect is high in the posterior septum near the inlet of the SVC or IVC, and is difficult to image antenatally - Associated anomalies: * Partial anomalous pulmonary venous return (90%) * Holt-Oram syndrome * Ellis van Creveld syndrome. - Rare type located at the site of the ostium of the coronary sinus in the right atrium.
