Al Akhawayn University (Arabic: جامعة الأخوين, Berber: Tasdawit En Wawmaten) is an independent, public, not-for-profit, coeducational university in Ifrane, Morocco, 70 km (43 mi) from the imperial city of Fez, in the Middle Atlas Mountains.

Founded in 1993 by Royal Dahir (decree), Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane opened its doors to students in January 1995. Based on the principles of diversity and an international outlook, the university's mission is driven by values of human solidarity and tolerance.

The university comprises three schools: the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, the School of Science and Engineering, and the School of Business Administration. AUI has about 1500 students, as well as approximately 160 exchange students from 28 countries.
