Autobracketing is a feature of some more advanced cameras, whether film or digital cameras, particularly single-lens reflex cameras, where the camera will take several successive shots (often three) with slightly different settings.

Most DSLRs (and some more advanced compact cameras) come with a feature called ‘ Automatic Exposure Bracketing ‘ (AEB) which can be useful to learn how to use in such situations. By selecting it you can quickly take three shots (usually three) at different exposures without having to manually change any settings between frames.

Custom Setting e6 (Auto bracketing (mode M)) can be used to change how the camera performs exposure and flash bracketing in mode M: by varying flash level together with shutter speed and/or aperture, or by varying flash level alone. The camera creates multiple copies of each photograph, each with a different white balance. Choose WB bracketing.

Autobracketing works by adjusting the exposure settings of your camera for each shot in the series. Vary exposure, flash level, Active D-Lighting (ADL), or white balance slightly with each shot, “bracketing” the current value. Bracketing can be used in situations in which getting the right settings is difficult and there is not time to check results and adjust settings with each shot, or to experiment with different settings for the same subject.
