The North American B-25 Mitchell is an American medium bomber that was introduced in 1941 and named in honor of Brigadier General William "Billy" Mitchell, a pioneer of U.S. military aviation. [2]

2023年10月17日 · The B-25H had even more weapons than its forerunner: a lightweight T13E1 75mm cannon designed specifically for the Mitchell and twelve .50 caliber machine guns: four fixed ones in the nose, two blister guns on the fuselage, two in the top turret, two at the waist station, and another two in the tail turret.

On April 18th, 1942, 16 B-25s launched off the carrier deck of the USS Hornet and bombed Japan. The B-25 became most famous for outstanding work in the Pacific Theater. There, specially modified aircraft carried eight (and sometimes more) machine guns that fired forward, attacking Japanese shipping and airfields.

These variations included 75 mm cannon, rockets and up to eighteen .50 caliber machine guns. The armament modifications varied on the B-25’s depending on the squadron mission. Some B-25’s were modified to carry torpedoes; both standard aerial and glide versions.
