The Beechcraft 1900D is a substantial redesign of the earlier 1900C model entered service featuring a wing span (over winglets) of 17.67m (58 ft), wing area of 28.8 sq m (310.0sq ft), length of 17.63m (57 ft 10in), and height of 4.72m (15ft 6in) in 1991.

The main difference in the 1900D was the substantially deeper fuselage allowing stand up headroom in the cabin. It also had larger passenger and cargo doors and windows, twin ventral strakes and auxiliary horizontal fixed tails. To carry the extra weight Beech upgraded to two PT6A-67D engines, each rated at 1,279 shaft horsepower.

The Beech 1900D has a comfortable airline style stand up cabin, seats with recline and armrest features, tray tables and under-seat storage. This aircraft has a large cargo door and movable bulkhead that allows different passenger/cargo combinations.
