2025年3月20日 · My commute is only 6km, so in total this BB has probably done 600km. The last one didn't last too long either, in my experience the UN300 is utter rubbish, nothing like as well built as the old UN55. The External BB's on my Gravel and Mountain bikes are used all year round in filthy conditions and last an absolute age. Just my experience.
Anti-Seize OR Grease on Threaded Square Taper Bottom Bracket?
2020年10月24日 · So I rely on that to install the BB in the nicely cleaned out BB shell thread (left side). But the Shimano manual (at Page 17) recommends grease (but not if the left hand one is plastic eg UN-26). The main part of the bottom bracket is screwed in from the right hand side. It has a flange which butts against the BB shell face when tight (50+Nm).

2012年11月17日 · You need to be very careful or you'll damage the BB shell threads as well as the BB cup. 2. Using a hacksaw or the file, cut through the lip part of the cup that extends beyond the face of the BB shell at the same locations you filed through to the threads. 3. Try again with the tool to remove the cup.

2007年9月17日 · Not sure who made it as it's just stamped 901 on the forks and BB. Neatly made, nice geometry, good shore lines, Portacatena dropout, rear mech over the BB cable, front mech under the BB so late 70's to early 80's. It has a couple of issues not visible in the pics but all in all a surprisingly well built frame. Shaun
Seized quill stem | CycleChat Cycling Forum
2009年11月17日 · In all seriousness. Try using a good penetrating oil to loosen the hold the rust (or whatever) has on the quill - then loosen the allen bolt a little (only about 10mm of bolt movement) then use a rubber mallet (or wooden block and normal hammer) then smack the bolt downwards a bit until it frees the lower half of the quill mechanism...
Need advice: Bottom bracket | CycleChat Cycling Forum
2013年2月13日 · The bike is a Carrera Crossfire 2 and is five years old. This is the second time (i think) I need to replace the bottom bracket. The bike has been used in all weathers with minimum maintenance (perhaps 6monthly clean&oil, lube more often), also was left outside for 2-3months last year (no garage/shed!). Any advice greatly appreciated! Thanks!

2010年5月21日 · Which isn't a lubricant. I've quite literally lost count of the number of bikes I've encountered which have been wheeled out of sheds after years of neglect and ridden for just a few miles only to have their bearing surfaces destroyed. Wheels, BB, headset and pedals. Open them up, what you see in there isn't grease its cack.
