Sep 19, 2000 · The reasons I went for Bb6 were that I got tired of having E9 be the open tuning when the 6th tuning was what interested me and made the most sense to me, and when I mentioned that to Reece, plus deciding to get a guitar built for me by MSA in 2011, he said that he thought I was a good candidate for Bb6 - as usual, he was right.

Jan 25, 2012 · I'm currently switching my C6 neck to strings 2-11 of the Reece Anderson Bb6 tuning (I need to order a handful of pullrods and bellcranks to complete it) while I look for a 12 (D-12, SD-12 or S-12, doesn't matter) to trade for my MSA D-10. I'm very impressed with it so far, and I kinda like the Anderson "6th" pedals a tad better.

Apr 14, 2019 · D10 suits a lot of people, S10 suits a lot of people, E9/B6 suits less people, Bb6 (which I play) suits even less people. (Not to mention Johnny Cox’s tuning, Zane King’s, Bob’s D6, etc). All are perfectly good systems, depending on your needs and musical personality, in my view.

Aug 25, 2024 · Paul, if your interest is Western swing and jazz, now is the perfect time to go universal Bb6/Eb9. Like you said, since you're just starting out, you won't have to get over any mental barriers should you decide to switch later. I believe David Wright told me the tuning he started out on was Bb6/Eb9 (from Maurice himself).
