The first BCOL locomotives to feature the North American safety cab were eight M630s (#723 to 730) that began arriving in late 1973 from Montreal Locomotive Works. The six-axle units wore the two-tone green livery of predecessor PGE.

BCOL 609 One of BC Rail's unique CRS20-CAT rebuilds of their Montreal Locomotive Works RS18s rest in the yard in North Van. Delivered in June of 1962 as Pacific Great Eastern Railway 595, it was rebuilt with a CAT engine by BC Rail in 1990.
