Verbatim’s Blu-ray media formats include BD-R, BD-R DL, BD-R XL and BD-RE. Standard Blu-ray discs come with storage capacities of 25GB for a single-layer disc and 50GB for a dual-layer disc,but Verbatim’s new BD-R XL/TL discs includes a third storage layer to give it a storage capacity of 100GB.

BD-R discs can only be written to once, whereas BD-RE discs can be erased and re-recorded multiple times, similar to CD-R and CD-RW for a compact disc (CD). Disc capacities are 25 GB for single-layer discs, 50 GB for double-layer discs, [ 1 ] 100 GB ("BDXL") for triple-layer, and 128 GB ("BDXL") for quadruple-layer (in BD-R only).
