I run a dual duty 135i in the pnw, but haven't had enough time with it to totally understand the heat issues (or not). My first track day was marred with limp mode issues. But, I learned that BMW puts the car in limp mode after hard acceleration and braking events to about overheating the brakes.

2023年8月9日 · BMW tech here, in your situation I would choose the 128. Better reliability, will still handle well on backroads, and will be a bit easier to work on considering you’re still learning. Would be a much better introduction to the headaches of owning a BMW lol.

2018年10月7日 · Depends. I currently own a 2011 135i with over 100,000 miles and the only issue I had was Footwell module went out but was covered by extended warranty. Depending on the year of the 135i, reliability differs. 2008-2010 had the n54 engine while 2011- had the n55 engine. I would say that the n55's are more reliable because of the single-scroll turbo.

2021年7月8日 · Yeah, the most controversial changes from the 135i to M235i/M240i (really all BMWs from the late 90/00s switching to new platforms in the 10s) was switching from hydraulic steering to electronic-assisted steering. Otherwise, the 135i and M235i are very similar cars, different platform but similar size, same power train, etc.
