In the extreme, $100 would be worthwhile, $100k more would not to most people. $500 more versus $15k more, same conclusions.The threshold for everyone is different.

Where one could argue the 440i is a cockpit, oriented toward the driver, and focused on basic functionality, the 540i is luxurious by comparison. The materials and design just seem more modern and aesthetically pleasing (although not a fan of the silver highlights on both dashboards).

Always liked the 4 series and after doing some research it looks like the B58 powerplant is getting good feedback from owners placing me into 440i territory. Found a 440i locally with 65k miles for around $23k, Looks like it has the M-sport package and someone stuck an intake on it.
