BFI has partnered with BMW UK and Michaela Coel to offer five filmmaking teams the chance to break new ground and quite literally push the boundaries of what our screens can offer.

BMW UK and the BFI have joined forces to create the BMW Filmmaking Challenge. Inspired by the ground-breaking all-electric BMW i7 and its ultra-wide 31.3-inch rear-passenger theatre screen which opened for entries in March 2023. Five filmmaking teams have been shortlisted and given a budget to produce their films.

Five filmmaking teams were given the opportunity by BMW and the BFI to bring a unique story to life in 90 seconds. Inspired by the ultra-wide 31.3 inch theatre screen in the all-electric BMW i7, each film follows the theme of Evolving Perspectives. Watch their short films now.

In May, Magazine London hosted a PR shoot for the announcement of the judges of the BMW Filmmaking Challenge in partnership with the BFI. The partnership aims to support aspiring filmmakers, helping them to develop their careers.
