2021年12月14日 · The door jambs and lower sills are common places for rust on the E46 chassis and it can be harder to repair than a spot where the back side of the panel is accessible. These areas are boxed in, but the top of the door jambs have open slots for the sill trim clips.

My E46 was garaged in the Bay Area for the first 15 years of her life and I had no rust issues whatsoever. As soon as I moved to Oregon and didn’t have a garage, she immediately started developing it. Also lived in Colorado for 2 years after Oregon which expedited the rusting process.

I know 5 speed e46 wagons aren’t just popping up every day and this one’s in my favorite BMW color Oxford Green. But I’m starting to lean towards moving on from this one.

2023年7月27日 · I don't think the E46 is particularly problematic when it comes to rust compared to your typical 20+ year old car. Main trouble spots are all the rubber and plastic bits in the cooling system and around the intake manifold (cracked rubber hoses and stuff causing vacuum leaks), and old leaky valve cover gasket.

2015年4月12日 · I had rust on the front of the rear arches on my silver E46 330d saloon, both sides. Cost £150 to have it repaired; I think they just ground away the rust, and painted over it, maybe adding some filler first. Anyway, the result looks pretty good to my eyes.

2023年7月12日 · Are you asking a general question about how to fix rust spots? Well, 1 out of 10 you can postpone the real fix by some sanding and rattle can paint. Based on your picture, you gonna need panel work and welding in a new piece of metal, I'm quite certain since that does not look like surface rust, its most definitely rotten through.
