BMW E1 is the name of two electric / hybrid city car concepts by German automobile manufacturer BMW, revealed at the 1991 then 1993 International Motor Show Germany. The first-generation BMW E1 prototype, the Z11, was revealed in 1991, and was all-electric. Only one example of this car was built.

2017年6月24日 · The BMW E1 (factory code Z11 ) was a 2+2-seater, which was only 3.46 m long, but its 1.65 m width was almost as wide as a BMW 3-sereis. The main feature of this model is its fully electric powrtrain. The engine, which was mounted directly above the rear axle, delivered 32 kW and transfered power to the rear wheels, as usual in BMW.

This gave the car a top speed of 78mph and a range of up to 165miles, while the petrol-powered edition was equipped with an 81bhp 1100cc BMW motorbike engine. This was fitted between the front wheels which made it very easy to build the hybrid, as it retained the rear-mounted electric motor and the front-mounted internal combustion powerplant.
