2011年2月2日 · Frankly, if you have to title it as a '1938 R71 BMW' to sell it then that's just misleading. That and the fact that he added all the badges and whatnot - well... it's just a counterfeit. That kind of business just sucks. If he were up front about it, say titled it 'REPLICA BMW, MADE IN CHINA' then it'd be ok.

When Dnepr made a 2WD, it was a swingarm as well, unlike BMW who could only engineer theirs onto a hardtail. The sidecars were swingarm sprung as well, unlike BMW who used leaf springs or no suspension at all on their sidecars.

The M72 from the Russia Army was the perfect imitation of the BMW R71. 10,000 were built starting in 1941 and competed against the BMW R75 on the eastern front. 2009年3月6日 · BMW numbers are always consistent and straight and not very large. There are places on the web that you can buy parts to make a bike very close to an R71, including the special looking lights and fenders. That said, someone with a bunch of actual R71 parts can build an R71 using a lot of aftermarket parts and a Chinese frame. Still, buyer beware.

2010年5月11日 · Thanks for the info and feedback guys. Yep a Ural would be my first choice if I had the $$$$. However i can get a left hand sidecar version of the R71 for only $3600AUD + freight, which makes the importing option look very appealing.

The motorcycle was based on the original 1956 Soviet IMZ (Irbitski Mototsikletniy Zavod) M-72 which itself was derived from the earlier German 1938 BMW R71. Nearly all Changjiangs have sidecars. They are sometimes referred to as BMW replicas which is not correct; they are derivatives of the IMZ. Production began in the late 1950s or early 1960s.
