Apr 28, 2022 · I don't get the S3. It's a more expensive Golf R - I just don't get it. There was even a funny period when you could get the S3 for less than the Golf R due to discounts and promos - but that's not the case these days. So I don't see the case for the S3's higher costs of ownership for the slightly nicer interior.

Mar 16, 2023 · We love BMW for its phenomenal rear-wheel-drive feel. The 2014-2016 M235i was rear-wheel-drive for S3 money, and it was good. (Although the steering was lifeless, and the straight-six puts enough weight over the front to severely impact handling - making the M2 sportier, but also the 228i Track Handling Pack.)

The car in question was a RWD auto almost completely un-optioned, only the navigation was selected making the MSRP $47,500. $6,500 less than my S3’s sticker. The list of positives are fairly short IMO. The engine sounds great, better than the noise the S3 makes.

May 8, 2023 · If the s3 was a bit cheaper id pick it but for the money, the m340i is a better car. The gas mileage should end up being similar to the s3 - bmw makes a very efficient inline 6. All that said If you pick the BMW I think the premium package with the HUD and heated seats, etc are a good call if you want a comfortable daily.

Jun 9, 2020 · The BMW did have a nicer interior, but I really enjoy the S3's simplistic interior. The BMW probably handles well in performance testing, it just doesn't feel precise or sporty, it felt like a lowered SUV.
