A tidbit of BN trivia: 6906 was the one and only BN SD40-2 with extended-range dynamic brakes, as evidenced by the door on the d/b blister forward of the grilles. It also looks like it picked up a 'late model' inertial air intake grille with horizontal framing at the top and bottom.

As a minor trivia item BN did have one ex-snoot - BN bought wrecked UP 3082 in 1989 and restored it to service with components from wrecked BN 6906, the result becoming the BN 6906 (2nd). Unfortunately, BN 'chopped' the nose to 88". It kept at least one spotting feature though, the extended-range dynamic brakes making it unique among BN SD40-2s ...
