In September 1949 Northern Pacific ordered six A-B-B-A sets of F7's from EMD and these were delivered as NP 6007 to 6012 and were all assigned to the Yellowstone Division. The 6011 set was involved in a collision with a W-2 Mikado steam locomotive at Wibaux, MT on 9-20-54.

BN 684 was built in Jan 1953 for the Great Northern Railway as EMD F7A 464A. GN purchased four A-B-B-A sets of F7's in 1953 and numbered them: 462A,B,C,D 464A,B,C,D 466A,B,C,D 468A,B,C,D. BN F7A 732 was built by EMD as NP 6014A in May of 1951, one of six sets of A-B-B-A's F7's numbered 6013-6018. After being set up all six sets were assigned to the Tacoma Division. By 1969 all of the F7's were reassigned elsewhere, the 6014 set to the Yellowstone Division.
