Ex-ATSF units #800-852 (even #s only) were sold to Canadian National as 2135-2161. Many #801-853 units are slated to be removed from roster, along 856, 861, 864 and 866. Final destination unknown. (Maybe the CN?) Several 1600, 1700, 1900 and 6300 series locomotive have been assigned a GN (Great Northern) number and stored. Please refer to TABLE G.

Running 4th is this CN unit, #2154. The 5 units are all past the Broad Street crossing now and heading east but starting to slow down somewhat. The turnout to the far right leads from the CN mainline to the former Elgin, Joliet and Eastner Rwy double tracks, a turnout that has received a major boost in traffic since the CN purchase in 2009.

Thought to have been retired and sold years ago, Santa Fe GP7 2154 reappeared on BNSF in late 2005 as a non-powered "remote control platform." An RCP is an unpowered locomotive or car whose only function is to receive radio commands from a remote control beltpack and pass them on to a non-RCL locomotive coupled to it.

BNSF 2154 still on the roster listed as Remote Control Locomotive Platform (RCLP). Last FRA inspection was due March 2006. GN 1302 also listed as a RCLP. Edited 2 time (s). CN C40-8W 2154 (ex-ATSF 838) was photographed by William Beecher Jr at Fond du Lac, Wisconsin on April 2nd. CN 2154 has a large burn mark on the engineer side and on April 5th arrived in Otto, IL and is currently out of service.

Six C40-8W’s were painted this month - 2154 emerged from Woodcrest, 2177 and 2193 from Quality Rail, and 2178, 2181, and 2196 by Centralia. 2185 and 2098 (ex-BNSF 847, 865) are in prep at Centralia, 2195 is in process at Woodcrest, 2177 at Quality, and 2168 at NRE-Dixmoor.
