BN 2223 is the ex-CB&Q 946 and was part of the first order of thirty GP30's built by EMD for the Burlington Route numbered 940-969 in 1962. The 946 was built in April of 1962. After the March 1970 BN merger the CB&Q 946 was renumbered to BN 2223 and assigned out west to Interbay for maintenance.

BNSF got one more 3GS21C-DE from NRE during November -- the 1311 that is rebuilt from a former Santa Fe SD45-2. The BNSF computer shows this engine rebuilt from former BNSF 6507, but that core was actually used for the 1315.

A Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway diesel-electric locomotive unit still painted in the old Santa Fe Railroad (Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe) color scheme for freight units, but with a "BNSF" designation. The locomotive was parked on a siding in Rochelle, Illinois.
