2006年6月2日 · BNSF Railway Company Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corp. created on September 22, 1995, when BN bought AT&SF's corporate Parent. Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway merged into Burlington Northern Railroad on December 31, 1996, and BN renamed Burlington Northern & Santa Fe Railway.

BNSF Railway (reporting mark BNSF) is the largest freight railroad in the United States. One of six North American Class I railroads, BNSF has 36,000 employees, [1] 33,400 miles (53,800 km) of track in 28 states, and over 8,000 locomotives. [2]

Each year the BNSF Railway Foundation awards up to 50 scholarships to high school seniors who are dependents of full-time BNSF employees or retirees. Applicants are selected based on academic achievement. These scholarships provide $5,000 per year for National Merit Scholars or $2,500 per year for BNSF Scholarship winners.
