The EMD GP35 is a 4-axle diesel-electric locomotive built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division between July 1963 and December 1965 and by General Motors Diesel between May 1964 and January 1966. 1251 examples were built for American railroads, 26 were built for Canadian railroads and 57 were built for Mexican railroads.

4390, Class GP-35, was built in September 1964, #29382, FN 7736-11, as B&O 3550, Class GP-35. It was renumbered 4390 and later CSX 4390, Class GP-35. It was later rebuilt by Morrison Knudsen as 2290, Class Road Slug, on October 29, 1990.

5 天之前 · Both BARCO and Genisco Technology supplied retrofit kits (piloted by an axle mounted speed sensor) to replace the as-built transition scheme on the GP-35. When the transition equipment was out of adjustment, the sudden dropping and return of load would just beat the hell of the engine-especially the top deck.

BNSF is currently the only major Class 1 railroad or system to operate true, non-rebuilt GP35 units. Several are preserved, while others operate on various shortlines (both rebuild and original).

The GP35 is a 2500HP unit built by EMD. They were bought by a number of railroads, including AT&SF, SP, UP, GN, CB&Q, CRI&P, EL, NYC, B&O, PRR to name a few.
