Individuals wishing to become a Clinical Associate in Applied Psychology (CAAP) first need to complete a BPS-accredited undergraduate degree (or conversion course) in psychology, followed by an MSc in either Psychological Therapies in Primary Care or Applied Psychology for Children and Young People.

You will need to register either as a CAP-Child (if you work with children and young people as your specified client group), or a CAP-Adult (if you work with adults as your specified client group), depending upon the training you have undertaken. The EPUT-Essex course is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS). This means that the programme complies with the training standards set out by the BPS and that graduates of the programme are eligible to join the BPS Wider Workforce Register as a qualified CAP.
