The P153 was the first BRM that did not appear in green (the color of the British racing teams), but in the livery of the sponsor Yardley. Pedro Rodríguez won the Grand Prix of Belgium in Spa-Francorchamps in 1970 and scored the first Grand Prix victory for BRM since Jackie Stewart's 1966 success in Monaco.
