2008年5月17日 · If you look at machinery's handbook, you'll find a discussion of "steep machine tapers" - turns out that CAT-40, BT-40, apparently SK-40 and NMTB-40 use the same taper, but with different shoulders on top and bottom, and different extra features for tools holders. And different threads to support either a draw-bar or pull stud.
What is the angle of BT40 taper? - Practical Machinist
2013年9月27日 · All the references I find list the BT40 taper as 3.5" in a foot = 7 in 24. The diagrams I have seen all give the half taper angle as 8° 17' 50" Here is my confusion. 8° 17' 50" = 8.297222° Calculating the taper angle by trigenometry it is ArcTangent of 7/24. That is 16.260205°. Halve that...

2006年8月6日 · ct40 and BT 40 differences claya, Usually the BT 40 taper tooling has metric threads for the drawbar. Usually CAT 40 have inch threads for the drawbar. For some reason, the Cat 40 tapers and the BT 40 tapers are a different length from the gage line. The metric (BT 40) is about .110 inch shorter than the CAT 40.
Difference Between CAT 40 and BT 40 Taper? - Practical Machinist
2005年2月17日 · The Japaneese standard BT-MAS 403 tooling has the same taper angle as the ANSI/catapiller DIN69871/A - ISO7388 tooling except that the lengthe from the gauge line to the pullstud mating face is 3mm longer on the CAT 40 tooling at 68,4mm.
CNC Machining | BT40 Vs Cat40 - BT40 Vs Cat40 | Practical Machinist
2005年12月11日 · On a BT 40 holder, key slot depth is .881" from centerline for both keys. On a CAT 40 holder, one key depth from centerline is .888" and the other is .983". If a "CAT 40" tool does not exhibit this characteristic then it is does not …
What is the difference between BT and CAT 40 tooling?
2009年12月19日 · Here is the big one.....The small end of the tool holder on a metric (BT) is about .115 inches different. If you would try to use CAT and BT in the same machine, tool retention would be wrong, wrong wrong..... The inch CAT holders are longer relative to the gage line. The 40 taper holders seem to be the only ones that have that difference.
Need help identifying Fadal spindle BT 40 or CAT 40? - Practical …
2011年2月18日 · Inside the pendant I found a build sheet that indicates that the spindle was ordered with a BT-40 taper. There is a pull stud placard on the column that shows the dimensions for both Cat-40 and BT-40 pull studs. I have no idea if the spindle is original, or if it has been changed and am trying to figure out if it's BT-40 or CAT-40.
Need a source for BT-40 tool tags - Practical Machinist
2017年11月7日 · We tried the tool tags from MSC Part # 58283474, but they are a very loose fit on a BT-40 V-flange (which is smaller than CAT-40), so much so they fall off very easily. The tool tags sold by Travers Tool (part # 67-815-990) are just as loose. I contacted Command Tooling Systems and their tool...

The length of a CAT 40 tool holder, from gage line to the threaded end is 2.687", the BT40 is 2.575 ...
CAT40 vs. BT40 on new machines - Practical Machinist
2008年12月15日 · We run mostly BT-40, thats the spindle on our Matsuura's. And to my knowledge, on brand new Matsuura 40-taper machines, they are still only available in BT-40. Ran CAT-40's on a new Cincinnati Arrow we bought new about ten years ago... Terrible time!! Can't balme the tool-holders really, the machine was just a weak piece of elephant pooh.
