BTS-4 (Bronetankoviy Tyagach Sredniy – Medium Armoured Tractor) – ARV similar to the BTS-2 but equipped with a snorkel. In the West it is known as the T-54T.

Polish ARV built on T-55 hull. It was built to perform repairs on T-55 and T-55A tanks. When it entered service in 1973 it was probably the best ARV in the Warsaw Pact. From 1969 to 1983, the ZTS factory, located in the Slovak city of Martin, manufactured a copy of the Soviet BTS-2 armoured recovery vehicle (ARV) under designation VT-55A. A T-55A medium tank chassis was modified and specialized equipment such as a 1,500kg capacity crane, a main winch for 75 tons and an auxiliary winch for 8 tons were installed.

VT-55A Special track vehicle built on a T-55A medium tank chassis. It was designed to recover equipment stuck on an obstacle or equipment damaged in combat or even to make repairs. Its armour, resistance to weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and complete drive (engine, gearbox) were maintained and they are identical to the T-55A type.
