This was another unorthodox design from Blohm und Voß for a single engine heavy attack bomber. The BV P.163.01 was powered by a Daimler Benz DB 613C, which was two DB 603G engines mounted side-by-side, and the BV P.163.02 was powered by a BMW 803, two 14 cylinder radial engines mounted in a tandem arrangement.

Powered with either DB 613 (BV.P.163.01) or BMW 803 (BV.P.163.02) this project was intended for a fast fighter/bomber role. Heavy armament and considerable bomb load might have turned this project into a formidable strike machine. The crew of four occupied two nacelles: pilot and navigator/bombardier in the left and two gunners in the right one.
