Swift Fox Gestation Period. Swift foxes live in North America. They have a gestation period of around 54 days. Like most foxes in North America, they get pregnant in the winter months and have their babies in the springtime. They give birth to 4-5 kits per litter, however, they can have as many as 8 kits. Pups are born anywhere from March to mid-May, and are weaned at six to seven weeks old. The swift fox has a dark, grayish, tan coloration that extends to a yellowish tan color across its sides and legs. The throat, chest, and belly range from pale yellow to white in color. Its tail is black-tipped, and it has black patches on its muzzle.

A baby fox is called a kit, but can also be called a cub or a pup (used for other canines).

Swift foxes are typically nocturnal hunters active from dusk to dawn. They can, however, be seen sunning themselves at the entrance to their burrow on sunny winter days and pups frequently play near the den during the day.

After a gestation period of approximately 50–60 days, the female gives birth to a litter of 4–5 pups. The young are born blind and helpless, requiring intensive parental care. They are weaned at around six weeks and venture out of the den shortly after that.
