Bacup (/ ˈbeɪkəp / BAY-kəp, [1] / ˈbeɪkʊp /) is a town in the Rossendale Borough in Lancashire, England, in the South Pennines close to Lancashire's boundaries with West Yorkshire and Greater Manchester.

Surrounded by stunning moorlands, right in the Pennine hills, Bacup is home to beautiful, historic architecture, fantastic views across the valley and varied activities for all ages. Described by English Heritage as the best-preserved cotton mill town in England.

Bacup is a town in Lancashire, sitting amongst the southern Pennines, close to the border with the West Riding of Yorkshire. The town sits within a rural setting in the Forest of Rossendale, amongst the steep-sided upper-Irwell Valley, through which the River Irwell passes.

Bacup is located in the county of Lancashire, North West England, three miles north of the town of Whitworth, six miles south of the major town of Burnley, 159 miles north of Cardiff, 160 miles south of Edinburgh, and 174 miles north-west of London. Bacup lies two miles west of the West Yorkshire border.
