Baku is a non-player character and leader of the infamous Tantalus Theater Troupe in Final Fantasy IX. Baku plays King Leo in the troupe's production of the play I Want to Be Your Canary. Tantalus's home base is in Lindblum's Theater District.

Baku is a boss in Final Fantasy IX. After Princess Garnet is kidnapped by the Prison Cage in the Evil Forest, Zidane decides to take Vivi and Steiner to look for her. Zidane has to fight Baku alone to be allowed to leave Tantalus. The player can defeat Baku with physical attacks and use Potions should Zidane's HP become low.

Baku is the leader of the Tantalus Theatre Troupe of Lindblum and is one of the main NPCs in Final Fantasy IX. He is the boss of his group and he doesn't take any lip from any of them - he is loyal to those who are loyal to him, even when they try to leave.

The Masked Man is a boss in Final Fantasy IX. He is the first battle of the game and is Baku in disguise. His "Gwahaha!" attack is the strongest, while "Oww!" results in Baku tripping and missing...

Baku’s attacks do not do much damage (around 25-35 damage) and he can potentially miss his attack entirely just like before when you fought him as the Masked Man at the beginning of the game. Make sure you take the opportunity to steal the Hi-Potion and Iron Sword from him and keep Zidane healed up with Potions as necessary.
