2021年4月2日 · Balin, while technically being younger than Thorin, was portrayed in the movie with shock white hair because he was described as being "very old-looking" and had a "white beard". Balin was born in TA 2763. Thorin was born in TA 2746, making him only 17 years older than Balin (a miniscule difference in terms of Dwarf-years).

2018年2月14日 · The timing isn't explicit, but Balin was killed before most of the Orcs had even entered Moria or the Dwarves were aware of their peril -- otherwise, Balin would have been a lot more careful. The period between when Balin died and the orcs were inside Moria in numbers may have been many weeks or even longer -- Moria was designed to withstand siege.

2021年8月19日 · The Balrog enters the room, and uses a terrible counter-spell which nearly breaks Gandalf. He is forced to use a Word of Command; the door cannot withstand it and breaks apart, then the walls and ceiling of the Chamber of Records collapse, burying Balin's tomb, some of the orcs and the Balrog within, and blocking the way.

2012年2月20日 · According to the Tale of Years in Appendix B, Balin and the rest of the colony were killed in 2994. The Fellowship passed through Moria in January 3019, so roughly 25 years had passed. (Dates are Third Age.) This is confirmed by the book of records Gandalf reads in Book II Chapter 5, The Bridge of Khazad-Dûm:

I think it did go for the ring. Balin survived nearly 5 years without encountering the Balrog. Poor Balin! He seems to have kept the title that he took for less than five years. He attacked the fellowship within a week of entering Kazad-Dûm.

2014年1月15日 · Actual Khuzdul in the books was very limited by comparison - we have some names of geographical features around Moria, the inscription on Balin's tomb ("Balin Fundinul Uzbad Khazaddumu"), Gimli's war-cry at Helm's Deep ("Baruk Khazâd! Khazâd ai-mênu!"), a scattering of other words and names, and that's all.
