2022年4月25日 · At my school band kids are some of the best kids are actually quite popular. Two years in a row hoco king has been in band. Band kids get a lot of awards (state academic awards, school awards for being a good person, all-state in sports, etc etc), a lot of band kids are quite popular as well and are some of the nicest kids in the school.
Why is the connotation behind being a “Band Kid” so bad?
There is definitely a difference. The “kids in band” scowl at the “band kids” doing “band kids” stuff and get mad that those are the weirdos setting the image for the whole group. This results in band kids growing more and more distinct in culture, mannerisms, and humor then other kids at school, until we ultimately become "weird." Because band starts so early, our social culture has much more time to develop, so it's much more pronounced than with other groups at school. It's kind of like allopatric speciation in biology.
