An E-stop, or emergency stop device, is a safety mechanism used on machinery that provides an immediate halt to operations in critical situations. When activated, by either pushing a button or pulling a rope, it sends a signal to the machine's control system to cease all functions, preventing potential injury to workers and damage to materials.

These safety modules monitor normally-closed emergency stop switch circuits or safety interlock switches for a contact failure or wiring fault.

The safety inputs can be interfaced with positive-opening switches to monitor an emergency-stop (E-stop) push button or rope/cable pull. The switch must provide one or two contacts for safety which are closed when the switch is armed.

SSA-EB... series models are "mushroom-style" electro-mechanical emergency stop push buttons. These buttons mount through a 30 mm hole in an enclosure. When the button is armed, the switch's safety contacts (normally closed/NC) are closed and its monitoring contacts (normally open/NO), if present, are open.
