BarOS 8 is the eighth version of BarOS in the Progresh lineup. It is based on the Mac OS 8 series, released from July 1997 to May 1999. According to the about box, this system was released in 1993.

BarOS (Bar System before 1991) is a series of operating systems for the Progresh computer (later named pBar starting from 1999) that was created by Pyrus Pyrifolia Calculators in 1983. It is based on Apple's macOS lineup of operating systems (previously known as Mac OS X, then OS X) and its predecessor, Classic Mac OS.
