Cars with generously-sized door jambs have room for modernish OEM rotary latches.

2020年3月20日 · A buddy had a 32 with bear claw latches and we both would get our belt loops on our pants hood on the B pillar peg of the latch. Annoying as hell. You may have just avoided that scenario. I look forward to the rest of your pic's when you are ready..

Had heard too many stories from friends of doors popping open when going around corners. Also didn t want to have to slam the doors to close them.

2014年1月23日 · The lock for the passenger side was welded to the top of the bear claw and the internal c shaped part was cut down and welded to the lock piece on the bear claw. I had an old passenger door that I cut up to pre-fit everything, the latch point for the bear claw ended up just below the dovetail. I used a cable to attach to the inside door handle.

2018年3月26日 · Decided to use a small DUAL arm bear claw mechanism. The dual arms allow a link for the outside door handle and a separate link for the inside handle. A link to the latches that I used, models 9-400-R and 9-400-L, similar to the 9D-400-UR and 9D-400-UL without the dovetail. These units also are FMVSS approved.

2018年11月16日 · If I can get a pair of locking bear claw latches, I can add a modern lock assembly (with matching keys) to both doors and adapt the oem outside handles to work with the bear claw latches. The next option is to install modern latches (which I can buy new for less then locking bear claws) and adapt the lock cylinder and door handle to work.

2019年1月14日 · I installed bear claw latches with heavy duty solenoids ( kit PPP35K ). I have interior door handles installed with a cable in a housing attached to a hinged pull rod tied to the bear claw release. I also have a wireless key fob actuating the solenoids that have a cable in a housing tied to the same pull rod.

2020年6月27日 · I went a totally different way. Latch pin in the Door, Bear Jaw latch in the new Steel B post. This is a 34 Chevy so the B post was rotten wood, I fixed that. Now we have electric door opener, manual cable unit incase the electric fails and the inside door handle is connected directly to the Bear Jaw latch.

2011年11月10日 · the springs in the stock door latches fail because of the age. I someone supplies a rebuilt version with new springs.. get them. I have installed bear claws in '51 ford. where the strike is in the "B" pillar you have to make it flush. The door side need lots of modification. If you go with the bear claw definitely get the install kit with them.
