The Bede BD-5 Micro is a series of small, single-seat homebuilt aircraft created in the late 1960s by US aircraft designer Jim Bede and introduced to the market primarily in kit form by the now-defunct Bede Aircraft Corporation in the early 1970s.

The BD-5 was used in the movie with James Bond called “Octopussy”. The aircraft was available with two different size wings. The BD-5A had a wingspan of 14 ½ feet and the BD-5 B had a wingspan of 21 feet. The BD-5J, the jet model of the aircraft, had a wingspan of 17 feet.

In 1973, Bede Aircraft introduced a jet-powered version the BD-5J. This aircraft still holds the record as the world’s smallest jet aircraft and is a popular air show performer. The BD-5J was made famous by its appearance in the James Bond film “Octopussy.”

2014年3月3日 · The BD-5J version holds the record for the world’s lightest single-engine jet aircraft, weighing only 358.8 lb (162.7 kg). While the new Hirth engine was being tested, Bede decided to create an unconventional variant of the BD-5 with a small jet engine. The result was the sleek BD-5J, a 300 mph (480 km/h) aircraft.
