Bertha's Story. The Murray Bridge Bunyip was built by Dennis Newell and launched in 1972. For 20 cents the bunyip emerged from below the water and gave a very loud roar - twice. This roar could be heard up to one kilometre away. The ugly looking monster did frighten many small children. His name was Bert the Bunyip.

The smaller, yet equally gruesome bunyip caused a new wave of Bigthusiasts to flood into this vibrant rural community. But a bombshell would soon be dropped upon an unsuspecting public. Bert, famous for brash masculinity and tough guy charm, now identified as a woman.

2023年11月27日 · Iconic tourist attraction Bertha the bunyip is at large this week after escaping her enclosure at Murray Bridge’s Sturt Reserve. The animatronic horror saw her chance and took it on Monday morning, leaping out of her cave and onto the back of a nearby truck.
