Produced between 1929-1956 by Voigtländer The Bessa is a medium format folder that uses 120 Film to produce 6x9 cm photographs. It's the best known and the most sold of all the Voigtlander cameras with estimations as high as 575,000 cameras made. It was the first self-erecting camera offered by Voigtländer.

As I mentioned in the last post, I recently upgraded my 6x9 folder to a Voigtlander Bessa II, one with a Color-Heliar 105mm f/3.5 lens. This is pretty much the most premium folder that Voigtlander made, save for the exceedingly rare and ridiculously expensive Bessa II with a 105mm f/4.5 APO-Lanthar.

Beyond the build quality, the Bessa 6×9 has some nice design touches that make it stand out from the pack: a door-mounted shutter release lever that retracts when the camera is closed; a self-closing pop-up Albada finder with flip-up 645 mask; and a sturdy spring-loaded release for the bellows, with a unique door-mounted sliding lever.
