Pets by default will attack the target the player has in focus, and if the player uses FAW or CSV (or some other AoE stuff), then this FAW on the pets will help debuffing more than just the player's current target. Triggering FAW (also on non-elite versions) is another option; Superior Area Denial comes into play there.
