With the upgrades over the years it was probably as good a railroad watch as any 18-size, full-plate watch, though there were better 18-size Hamiltons, as others have pointed out, and there were some great 18-size railroad watches from the competition, such as the Waltham 1892-model and the Elgin 3/4-plate model.

2014年4月20日 · Nye clock oil will work fine for the third and fourth wheels, but you want something lighter like Nye watch oil for escape wheel pivots and the balance jewels. Elgin M56b shines in those locations as well. You will need some escapement grease for the pallet stones, Moebius 915 or 9415 is best, I think, particularly the 9415.

2016年12月22日 · Hey guys was at a local pawn shop today and saw they had two pocket watches the first was a small size 12s Hamilton, not worth too much. The next was a size 18 Hamilton, they wanted $350 for it and I thought I would never pay that much for it. Turns out the pocket watch had been as a loan and the guy never came back for it.

Beautifully finished pieces can make for a real showpiece, and I admit my own attraction to these eye catchers. The Ball models come to my mind, but there are many makes/models in this category.
