Which year Outback is "best"? ie reliable, dependable, low upkeep
2019年7月10日 · Using the rule of “first year of the generation has most kinks”, years 2015 and 2018 should be the least reliable years. 2015 is the first year of the generation, and 2018 is the first year of the mid-generation refresh. Note, however, I have a 2018 and do not subscribe to the rule I just mentioned. I have not had any major issues.
Best years for Outback - Subaru Outback Forums
2022年12月21日 · There’s no terrible years to buy. For your price you could do a Gen 5 if you can go 2018-2019 it would be best but it may push the budget or look at higher miles. 2013-2014 you had no timing belts or head gasket issues. I would stay away from 2015 it was the first Gen 5 but you get to 2017 it was solid.
Used 3.6 advice, long term reliability? | Subaru Outback Forums
2019年8月22日 · Have been looking for a 3.6, and found a loaded 2016 Limited for $24k with 47k miles, all new tires, and has about a year of power train warranty left, with a dealer 90 day 5k bumper to bumper. The price doesn’t bother me as can probably get that down a hair, but what about the mileage, would...
Considering buying an Outback, what years should I avoid...
2020年10月19日 · I would avoid those years. The 15-16-17's all seem pretty stable, the 18 started to exhibit serious head unit (radio/infortainment system) issues, that carried into the '19's but that year seems OK. The '20's introduced the engine stop/start system that many folks seriously hate.

Best steering rack replacement option? | Subaru Outback Forums
2025年3月5日 · What's the best option for a new (or rebuilt) steering rack? Mine's pissing out fluid and jerks violently going over rough bumps, so I need to source out a replacement. It sounds like a while back, people were running into issues with rebuild racks leaking again after only a few months, so I'd love to know what people are running nowadays.
Gen 6 Heavy duty floor mats and aftermarket cargo cover
2024年12月31日 · The negative review addresses gaps in coverage at the rear hatch. It also has a grab hole, versus the factory grab handle. I can say the Subaru cover is still good after 4 years and has no sag or wrinkles. In many cases certain OEM designs just work and fit better and are worth the extra cost.
Best H6 year / transmission combo | Subaru Outback Forums
2022年12月12日 · The 2012-2013 3.6 H6, 5EAT is probably the best choice for various reasons BUT any vehicle with 150,000+ miles is a bit of a crapshoot as to reliability. The Subaru CVT’s are now being reliably rebuilt by transmission builders and there are many reports of the earlier Subaru CVT’s from around 2011-12 having gone 250,000+ miles after having ...
2025 Outback Premium -- any thoughts? | Subaru Outback Forums
2025年2月19日 · The only downside for the 2021, rectified in the 2022 and later years, was the absence of a rear AC/Heat vent on the rear of the center console. Otherwise the drive train and head units (unless you get navigation) are the same as higher level trims. GO for the 2025.
Last Year of the 5EAT w/3.6? - Subaru Outback Forums
2021年7月19日 · Absolutely 2014, as indicated. Starting in 2015, the 3.6R models inherited the High-Torque CVT. The 5EAT was a great trans. Sure it can get confused occasionally, like most automatics, if you go from heavy acceleration and let-up abruptly, or get back on the gas, during a down-shift, but generally it's a really smooth transmissions, and over-built for the weight of …
