2018年5月9日 · Just a recap on my experience. We fit 1 processed packaged and frozen elk into a old 125 quart igloo cooler. I have a 165 quart that held one and some of another and the rest went into what mus have been a 80-90 quart cooler. the only time we used the coolers for holding any game was when we picked up the meat from the processor.

As your first elk (or your 50th), you definitely made the right choice in taking it, especially if you were in a OTC unit. Any 3+ year old elk in an OTC unit has most likely seen a lot of his friends get shot and they get smart fast! Congrats on a unique bull.

2017年12月13日 · Big difference in a cow and a bull also. I’ve fit a cow quartered up (legs cut down though) into a 120 and a 40. Elk are big you have to plan accordingly. You can always stop somewhere after you kill it though to purchase another cooler. For size note this is a cow elk, doe and bear all crammed in here in four coolers, haha a good week!
