Power Curve Characterization I: Improving the Bin Method
Accurate monitoring of wind turbine performance is essential for the cost-effective operation of wind farms, especially for modern turbines in complex terrains. This paper reviews various stochastic methods for assessing turbine power output, focusing on improvements to the traditional bin method highlighted in IEC 61400-12.
We propose modifications to the IEC 61400-12 bin method in order to provide a more accurate characterisation of wind turbine performance in complex terrain taking account of direction and using a varying power law dependence of power output on wind speed. The method is validated using data from a real wind farm. 1. Introduction.
Modified Approach of Manufacturer’s Power Curve Based on Improved Bins ...
2022年10月24日 · The ideal wind turbine power curve provided by the manufacturer cannot monitor the practical performance of wind turbines accurately in the engineering stage; in this paper, a modified approach of the wind turbine power curve is proposed based on improved Bins and K-means++ clustering.
Simple binned averaging of data with shorter time averages gave better results than the Langevin power curve method. The present summary report is the final report on the EUDP research project “FastWind – Faster turbine development and …
Modeling and monitoring the power curve can detect wind turbine operating abnormalities and degradation in a timely manner. This paper firstly points out the drawbacks of the standard binned power curve modeling method of IEC-61400-12-1.

2018年10月12日 · In this paper, a support vector regression (a nonparametric machine learning approach)-based pitch curve is presented and its application to anomaly detection explored for wind turbine condition monitoring. A radial basis function (RBF) was used as the kernel function for effective SVR blade pitch curve modeling.
