2023年6月26日 · +1 to tapes. The best option is continuous moving multiple copies of data to the newest media: so obsolescence of reading hardware doesn't eventually catch you. The next best option is tape: as it is media engineered to last for decades with proper storage. I like parking important data in two different cloud providers (self encrypted).

I have and use Blu Ray to create long term backups and while you will get a lot of people that say otherwise, in 10 years of archiving I have had many hard disk drives fail, but no properly checked Blu Ray backups fail (and yes I do check them). In my experience, even with M Discs (I use 100GB discs), keep them at room temperature if possible.

For everything else, namely durability and being WORM, BluRay wins. It's really down to how important the data is, how much you have to store, and how much you're willing to pay.
